In my last post, I spoke about how lasting longer isn’t really about control — it’s about connection. When men learn to relax, breathe, and stay present in their bodies, things begin to shift on their own. This time, I want to share some simple ways to start practising that awareness in everyday life — whether you’re on your own or with a partner.
These aren’t tricks or techniques. They’re ways of learning how to listen to your body and allow pleasure to move through you without tension or pressure.
Slow Everything Down
Most men move too quickly, building intensity before their body has found its natural rhythm. Try slowing everything down — your touch, your breathing, even your thoughts. Notice how this creates more space for sensation and connection. Slowness isn’t hesitation. It’s awareness.
Breathe Deeply
When you hold your breath, your body tightens and arousal builds too fast. When you breathe deeply, your body relaxes and the energy spreads. Try breathing in through your nose and exhaling softly through your mouth. If you start to feel close, keep breathing — long, slow, gentle breaths. Your breath is what keeps you anchored in your body.
Notice the Wave
Think of arousal like a wave rising from one to ten. Most men only notice when they’re already at a nine, right before release. Start tuning into what five or six feels like. When you reach seven or eight, pause, breathe, and let the intensity settle before continuing. This isn’t about stopping; it’s about staying with the feeling instead of letting it take over.
Soften Your Body
Pay attention to where you tend to tense up your jaw, shoulders, stomach, or thighs. Those small contractions send a message that your body is under pressure. Soften instead. Drop your shoulders, open your chest, and let your belly move with your breath. Pleasure flows when the body feels safe.
Feel More Than One Place
A common reason men lose control is because all the focus is in one area. Feel your breath, your chest, your hands, your whole body. Pleasure isn’t meant to stay trapped; it’s meant to move. When you learn to feel more of yourself, orgasm becomes something you can guide rather than something that happens to you.
Let Go of the Goal
When sex becomes about lasting longer, you miss the very thing you’re aiming for, connection. Shift your attention from the outcome to the experience. Notice what feels good, not how long it lasts. You’ll find that the more you relax, the more time seems to expand naturally.
Practise Without Pressure
This takes time and practice, so be kind to yourself. It’s not about perfect control. It’s about getting to know your body again. Even a few minutes a day of mindful breathing, self-touch, or simple awareness can help your body unlearn old habits and build new ones.
A Next Step: The Sexual Vitality Programme
If you’d like to take this exploration further, I offer a Sexual Vitality Programme, a five-session journey designed to help men reconnect with their bodies, expand pleasure, and build lasting confidence through breath, awareness, and presence.
It’s for men who are ready to understand their bodies on a deeper level and experience intimacy without pressure or performance. Sessions are held privately in Newcastle and Northumberland, or online if you prefer to begin from home.
You don’t need to try harder; you just need to learn how to listen to your body. When you do, everything changes.
